Once you've downloaded TechTool Protogo, you will need to install it on your Mac in order to create a bootable device.  Once installed and launched, the Protogo app makes it easy to turn a thumb drive, iPod, or most any other storage device into a bootable diagnostic tool.

  1. Select the device to be used in the Devices Pane.  (The drive will be erased prior to building the device)
  2. Select an appropriate Profile from the Profiles pane.
  3. Click 'Build TechTool Protogo Device.'

Once the building process has completed, your device will boot Macs that fit the description of the profile used.  The time to build the device varies depending on the hardware used, profile being built, etc.
