Lion compatibility? 07 Aug 2011 09:08 #964

Recently upgraded to Lion and tried to set up a basic system on my external drive. Didn't work – the icons just rolled by for hours. When can we expect a Lion compatible upgrade for Protogo? Thanks.

All I can tell you today is that we plan to have a Lion-compatible version of TechTool Pro sometime in August. Then we will have to revise the application that creates the ProToGo volume.

I do not know whether the update will be free or not.

I just bought and downloaded Protogo as a result of an emailer and neither it nor Disk Utility recognize my Lion startup disk. I am not a happy camper.

ProToGo erases the destination device on which it installs files. It could not have erased your usual startup volume, unless you booted from another startup volume.

I used my 10.6.8 MacPro to create a USB recovery drive then connected it to my MacBook running Lion with FileVault 2 to test it. The ProToGo does not understand how to unlock the OS drive so that it can run diagnostics on it. To me, this is part of Lion compatibility.

Because you have FileVault 2, you will want to make sure that you have created a Basic Profile based on a Lion installation. This will allow your Protogo device to 'see' your Lion volume.

Thanks,
