Recovering Files from a SD card 02 Dec 2011 01:48 #1635

I was surprised that the file recovery would not recovery any files from a memory stick (SD/SDHD).

These use FAT32 partitions. Since the Mac OS recognizes FAT32, one would think that TT would offer recovery from a a volume (it's recognized in Disk Utility as a disk).

I had luck recovering 642 files using 3rd party software. They gave me %50 off because a competing product failed.

Did I miss something or is this a FEATURE REQUEST?

(sorry about the previous thread I just submitted was posted under Protege instead of Protogo - please move if possible).

TechTool Pro does not diagnose, repair, or recover files from FAT32 volumes. It takes years of develpment work and the collection of a library of drives with damaged disk directories to be able to make a contribution to the field of disk directory repair or file recovery from a specific volume format.

The subject of file recovery from FAT32 volumes is quite interesting. I routinely check the Leica User Forums for stories of extraordinary data recovery from SD cards.
