Updating Protege from OS X 10.9 16 Nov 2013 06:00 #4921

I recently picked up a Protege firewire device, and was trying to convert it from PowerPC to Universal (or Intel) on my Macbook Pro running 10.9. I know the versions on this device aren't supported for 10.9, but I thought the updater would still work.

I get the following error.

! Configuration Failed
A problem was encountered while configuring the
TechTool Protege device
Please remove the TechTool Protege device and try again

Is there a way to update on this system, or figure out why the configuration failed?

Thanks,
Robert

The program itself was written long before OS X 9 was developed. I can only suggest that you try again on an older Macintosh running a supported version of the system software, one from around July 2008.

Fair enough. I got the Protege firewire device because I occasionally work with older Macs (and because the idea of a firewire flash drive was tempting even if it didn't work with the newer apps), so I have a couple around.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Looking forward to the next Protogo version :)

You are welcome.

I think it is regrettable that small FireWire flash memory devices never caught on on the market.
