File Optimization 25 Aug 2017 22:59 #8506

I was running File Optimization and hit 124K % optimized for a particular file. Obviously you cannot have 124000+ % optimized so I stopped the process. The file was a "google.....deamon.log. Safari was running. So would closing Safari help correct the issue? or is there another problem?

You can tell whether Safari has a particular file open by opening Activity Monitor, located in /Applications/Utilities. Choose the Memory tab, select Safari, and then click the Info button, with the tiny I, in the upper left corner of the window. Then choose the Open Files and Ports tab. The resulting window shows all of the files currently open in Safari.

I have had so many memory problems caused by leaving Safari pages open that I would suggest closing Safari, or at least having no unnecessary pages open, before doing anything that is either memory intensive or that makes a lot of use of reading and writing to the drive.
