Sensors Test will not work 12 Aug 2017 18:03 #8499

Just installed 9.5.1 and performed the 'Check Computer'. When the suite reached Sensors Test, everything stopped. No display showing anything was happening as per your manual and I waited for 45 minutes for something to appear. I then just cancelled that test and the 'Check Computer' resumed OK. All test results showed in reports - except Sensors Test of course.

I tried running Sensors Test by itself a few times - nothing happend. The 'Run Sensors Test' box does not grey out and if I click the box again, it puts a second Sensors Test icon on my screen. I ran another Sensors Test while I was typing this and after 10 minutes, nothing appears that it is actually doing something.

I just cancelled Sensors Test and checked Reports: Cancelled - No Bad Sensors detected - Sensors Test ran 1 time, successfully. All the times I tried and cancelled yesterday have disappeared from my Reports today.

So is Sensors Test actually doing something or that test just does not show on the display as your manual says it would?

Thanks for your clear and detailed report.

I have not seen any mention of a problem with the sensors test with your model, but it may be that nobody with this relatively new model has tried the test. I just checked some notes about problems that will addressed in the next update to TechTool Pro. The sensors test is not yet supported for these new models:

iMac (21.5-inch, 2017), iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), and iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017).

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017).

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports), and MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017).

Done - thank you

BTW - clicking the 'Preview' button does not do anything

You are welcome.

We know about the problem with the preview button. The forums software is a third-party product that we did not write. It seems that there is always something else more pressing to be looked into, such as sensor tests for new models.

I want to chime in on this... I have a 2017 27" iMac 4.2 GHz with 64 GB RAM a Radeon 580 Pro with 8 GB VRAM and 1 1TB Flash drive and the Sensors Check doesn't work with mine either although I used 9.0.2 and 10.12.6 of the Mac OS.

This is the problem I have with MicroMat updates in that they should cover feature problems in older versions. It seems any fixes require and upgrade to 9.5.x and as a user since TTP 5.x ( i cannot remember if I had it before that). I want to suggest that error should be fixed for every release that the sw is said to support.

Anyway, I am another 2017 iMac user with this problem that is taking the time to report it.

Thanks for your suggestion, which I have forwarded to the beta administrator for TechTool Pro.

It is sometimes possible to add fixes to older versions for specific type of problems, and we have sometimes done that. I do not know if it is possible to do that with the sensors test.
