Uninstaller 07 Nov 2014 10:14 #5913

I'm trying to run the TechTool Pro 6 installer and get the dialogue box that it "can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.

Also, I get an error message that I cannot remove the preference pane, when I try to remove it from my system preferences. Any thoughts?

Thank you

What version of Mac OS X are you using? TechTool Pro 6 is not compatible with Mavericks or Yosemite.

The Firefox support people have a document that explains how to get around the problem with the identity of the developer (the linked Apple document is not opening at the moment):

Once you are able to launch the installer, use the Customize button to access the uninstall feature, which will remove the application, its system preferences pane, and update launchd so it will not be trying to launch a process that is no longer installed.

The TechTool Pro 7 installer automatically removes earlier versions, so it you plan to install TechTool Pro 7, there is no need to remove TechTool Pro 6 first.
