TOPIC: Retina Macbook Pro won't work with TTP 6 or 7

Retina Macbook Pro won't work with TTP 6 or 7 04 Jul 2013 16:37 #4319

Has anyone had this issue? I've used the latest of version 6 and the latest of version 7
neither works when booted from a DVD
Is this because 10.6.7 is not compatible with the macbook retina 2011 or higher?

Please help ASAP

The system software on the bootable DVD comes from an Apple Developer's kit for making bootable DVDs, which Apple has not revised in a long time. Given the fact that Apple no longer supplies new models with bootable DVDS, it is unlikely that the kit will ever be revised. You should be using the eDrive feature, since when the Macintosh is booted from a bootable DVD, virtual memory cannot be used, and no log files can be written.

If when using a bootable DVD, "virtual memory cannot be used, and no log files can be written", why is Micromat preselling a bootable DVD for version 7?

There are some tests, such as the Surface Scan or S.M.A.R.T. test, which are not memory-intensive, and which work well from a bootable DVD.

The TechTool Pro 7.0.1 DVD is not a bootable DVD, and the manual is being revised to reflect that. The DVD should reappear in a few weeks.
