resizing volume failed when removing edrive 20 May 2013 18:44 #4059

I tried to remove the edrive on my 10.8.3 macbook pro. I'm running TTpro 6.0.6.
After it removed the edrive it gave me this error: Resizing volume Macintosh HD failed. The space on disk occupied by the eDrive was not reclaimed.

What are my options now to reclaim the space?

Thanks

The first thing you should do is to make a backup of the other volume(s) on the drive.

I suggest that you run the Volume Structures test, or use Disk Utility, to check the disk directory of the others volume(s) on the drive. Then run the Surface Scan to check the drive for unremapped bad blocks.

The version of Disk Utility that you have in Mac OS X 10.8.3 can attempt to repair the partition map on the drive. Select the drive mechanism itself, not a volume on it, and click the Repair Disk button. If the partition map is determined to be OK, and the disk directory of the volume next to where the eDrive was is found to have no errors, you might be able to reclaim the space by dragging the corner of the image of the adjacent volume to make it larger.
