Repairing a compter in target mode 25 Mar 2020 20:21 #11895

I need to run a hardware test on a machine that has a GPU unit problem that is hit and miss. (2011 15" MBP OSX13.6)
I have it connected in target mode. Why can I not run all of the usual hardware test on it?

You cannot test the hardware (for example, the RAM) of a computer other than the one that is running the program. There is no for the program to access the memory addresses to write to them or read from them via FireWire. Other tests, such as the Surface Scan and Volume Structures test, should be available in Target Disk Mode.

I can only suggest that when the Apple Stores reopen, you take the computer to them. They may be able to test the GPU.
