ExFAT and MS-DOS (FAT32) volumes. 16 Sep 2018 07:30 #10125

I tried to repair on an external ExFAT and MS-DOS (FAT32) volumes but after one hour it did not even complete the first stage. Is there an error or how long does it take on a 1 TB drive. The reason I upgraded was for this feature. I would like to also see defrag for these drives.

The amount of time required to examine and repair a volume depends on processor speed, bus speed, drive speed, and the number of files and how many pieces (called "extents") they are in. It can take many hours for a large drive. If the process does not finish, please send a message to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

I doubt we will be making a disk optimizer for FAT32 volumes, since they are seldom used by Macintosh users, and cannot be used on the increasingly-common solid state drives.
