Data Recovery does not work on SSD drives, because TRIM permanently deletes data almost immediately after the Trash is emptied. The data is overwritten with zeros to prepare the sectors formerly occupied by the file for their next write event.
For future reference: If you are using macOS 10.13 High Sierra, Data Recovery and Trash History are not available for the active startup volume, due to changes Apple made in security.
