Volume Structures, Validation Error Encountered 08 May 2013 12:48 #4027

Checkmate "found a volume structure error for volume Macintosh HD".

I ran Volume Structures in eDrive and came up with "Validation Error Encountered". What does this mean and how can it be fixed?

A "validation error" means that there is an error in the disk directory of the volume that was examined. You can attempt to repair the disk directory using either the Volume Rebuild tool in TechTool Pro, or the repair volume feature of Disk Utility, while the Macintosh is booted from the eDrive.

Be sure to make a backup of the volume before you begin. If something goes wrong during the rewriting of the disk directory, the result may be irreparable.

Thank you. I ran the Volume Rebuild tool in eDrive and then Volume Structures. Result: No Validation Errors Encountered.

You are welcome.

It was prudent to run the Volume Structures test again, after using Volume Rebuild.

Thanks for the update, and it is good to see that Checkmate has proven useful to you.
