Analyzing which DIMM is defect? 09 May 2016 10:31 #7197

Hi,

I have an iMac with 2x8GB what fails on the WALKING ZERO's test.

It seems Atomic is not giving me any clue on which of the banks is defect.
So I need to do a try and error analyse what is time consuming.
To me it seems Atomic should be able to show me which bank is causing the error.

Any suggestion?

The way the memory management works in OS X, it is not currently possible to use software to determine in which memory module a given address is locate. Apple made a deliberate choice to use such memory management, because it provides the advantage of making it unnecessary for programmers to ever consider which addresses are in which memory module.

We are aware of how useful it would be to be able to locate the defective memory modul, and re-examine this issue from time to time.
